Chris Evans’s TG ticket auction raises over £400k for Children In Need
Opportunity to attend filming of next year’s TGTV makes cash for charity
Good work, you generous, generous humans. Bidding finished today on Chris Evans’s big charity Top Gear/TFI auction, which saw the new TG host offering tickets to both the Christmas edition of TFI Friday, and studio recording of the first episode in the new series of Top Gear next spring.
The donations have been counted, and the ticket auction raised a massive £412,694 for Children In Need. In American money, that’s, um, loads.
Children In Need is the BBC’s annual fundraising mega-event for the charity aiming to raise money to improve the life of children across the UK. Last year the November appeal raised an incredible £32.6m, with organisers hoping for an even higher total this year.
The big night is Friday 13 November, when every corner of the BBC – and beyond – will come together to extract as much cash as possible from charitable souls across Britain and the wider world.
So far this year, Evans’s Radio 2 breakfast show has raised just over £5.5m for Children In Need, with August’s CarFest alone making £1.7m.
