Listen now: fastest ever Caterham screams down the Catesby Tunnel
TG’s Tunnel Run welcomes a British featherweight champ: the Caterham 620R
It’s over ten years old… and still the featherweight champion of the world. The Caterham 620R might have been launched back in 2013, but it remains the quickest and most powerful Caterham you can buy.
Consider this: it’ll punch from 0-62mph in just 2.7s - in first gear! – putting it in the same league as heavyweights like the Bugatti Chiron and Hennessey Venom F5, neither car allergic to stomach-troubling acceleration.
So it’s fast. It’s also loud: that 2.0-litre supercharged four-cylinder might be good for ‘only’ 310bhp, (bananas when the 620R weighs less than one of Stig’s thoughts), but it still somehow manages to sound like a hornet’s nest being gargled by a Valkyrie.
So, sit back, turn it up loud and watch the reigning, defending, undisputed featherweight champion of the wooooooorld sock it to a really long tunnel.
