Pick up the new issue of Top Gear mag for the world’s only Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 review
The latest issue is out now, and it features a rather big moment in the world of fast cars
The latest issue of Top Gear magazine has arrived on shelves and at this very link, and this month we’ve got rather a large world exclusive for our loyal readers.
Yep, at long last we’ve been thrown the keys to the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50, which means an epic 900-mile roadtrip along the length of the Pyrenees in what could be one of the all-time great supercars. Want to know what’s it like? You can only find out in Top Gear magazine.
Clearly, it should be rather special. Anything with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 that revs to 12,000rpm is going to be somewhat of an event to drive, and that’s before you remember that Gordon himself wanted this car to better his McLaren F1 in every single way.
This drive has been a long time coming too. Four and a half years ago, TG was first invited to Gordon’s office where he revealed a hand drawn sketch and some of the targets he had set for the T.50. A year later we saw the first full-size model and in April 2021 we toured Gordon’s personal car collection – a rare insight into the mind of the man and his obsession with weight. In January 2022 we had a go at configuring our own T.50, and six months ago we experienced the full 12,000rpm song from the passenger seats.
But all that was a mere amuse-bouche for this latest mission: a roadtrip like no other, in a car that redefines what human/machine communication and driving satisfaction looks like. An emphatic full stop on the age of the analogue supercar.
