You, and your wall, won’t regret it.
It’s been quite a process: twenty-eight years and 350 magazines stuffed with the finest car photography the world has ever seen, and we had to whittle that down to just 35 images, 35 clicks of the shutter… 35 moments in time. Not an easy task, especially when there’s a digital revolution part way through the archive that relegated most of the older stuff to the shredder.
But pixel count is only part of the story. We wanted variety – Top Gear is a broad church and that needed to be represented – the places we’ve been, the people we’ve met and the cultures we’ve been exposed to are just as important as the cars that we got around in.
Some photos picked themselves – I mean, it’s hard to argue with a pin-sharp, flame-spitting McLaren P1. Others stuck because the stories from behind the lens had to be told. The rest made the chop for exuding a joy and passion that underscores everything we stand for here at Top Gear. The perfect picture? Doesn’t exist… but this lot got mighty close.
