New Top Gear magazine out now: is this Maserati's big comeback?
We’ve driven the MC20 GT2 Stradale and the GranTurismo Folgore. Are these the cars to save Maserati?
The key to commercial success these days seems to be companies with sharply defined personalities, which makes sense when we’re all bombarded to the point of paralysis by choice. It’s why Dacia (affordable, outdoorsy, no nonsense) and Ferrari (extreme performance, pinnacle of technology) do so well. You know where you stand, instantly. With Maserati it’s not so clear quite what you’re buying into. Rampant Italian horsepower and pinpoint handling, or luxury and comfort?
Truth is, Maserati wants to be both, and has the heritage to make it stick, which is why it has the brass to produce two products as diametrically opposed as the new track honed MC20 GT2 Stradale and the electric ultra luxe GranTurismo Folgore. Can this duo simultaneously beat the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Bentley Continental GT at their own games? It’s a hell of an ask, but with Maserati you never quite know.

Also in this month’s issue: the history of the hardcore track-special sports car, the full story behind Renault’s bonkers Filante Record 2025 concept, and we meet the man responsible for kick-starting a pan-Atlantic land speed record battle… for the world’s fastest wheelbarrow.
There’s also our behind-the-scenes report from F1’s O2 launch party and drives of the Marc Philipp Gemballa Marsien, the Fiat Grande Panda and the GBS Zero. An eclectic bunch, we think you’ll agree.
