Are electric hot hatches actually viable? We want the answer to be an emphatic yes, right? Because a world without hot hatches in it is like a bacon sandwich without ketchup... not completely unpleasant, but ultimately a bit dry.
So, seeing that Renault, with its Alpine beret on, has produced something cooler than liquid nitrogen makes us very excited indeed, and the obvious link to the Eighties R5 Turbo has the Top Gear team feeling all warm, fuzzy and retro.
