Jaguar I-Pace vs Tesla Model 3: TG's guide to the future
New TG mag is out NOW featuring: new Jag EV, Tesla, Lambo and much more
Welcome to Top Gear's Guide to the Future. Or, more accurately, Top Gear's Guide to the Future of the Car as Far as We Can Currently Understand It Because It's All a Bit Fluid at the Moment.
Yep, our brand-spanking, shiny new magazine is out now, and our cover star is none other than Jaguar's all-electric I-Pace. To answer some of the big questions about electrically motivated cars, we took the Jag on a week-long bootcamp. On-road. Off-road. Drag racing. Yep, we threw everything at the Tesla rival.
Speaking of Tesla, we finally get our hands on the Model 3 in the heart of New York. One screen, 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and potentially a bargain £40,000 – could this be the car to change the EV world?
We also tackle the wider stuff, busting electric myths and revealing the truth behind battery life, range, speed, plug sockets… There are no excuses now.
Embracing the future, we also explore the Lynk&Co short-term subscription way of car ownership, the 815bhp Audi e-tron VGT from the world of Gran Turismo, and chat to Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen about the future of the sport.
Oh, and there’s an electrifying (sorry) first look at the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio: the company's wild vision of a future supercar that can actually heal itself.
Don't worry, this is still Top Gear - we haven’t shunned the internal combustion engine just yet. There's a mega group test between the shiny new Aston Martin V8 Vantage, McLaren 570GT, Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Mercedes-AMG GT R, and road tests of the BMW M3 CS, Aston DB11 AMR, Audi A6 and Lotus Exige Sport 410 (among many others). Plus, updates from the Top Gear Garage long term fleet.
