The 1,479bhp Koenigsegg Regera in new Top Gear magazine

New mag out now with world-exclusive drives of the Regera, VR Blackbird and Nissan Bladeglider

Published: 07 Sep 2016

In the October issue of Top Gear magazine, join us as we gaze into the future with an A-Z of the cars, trends and technology that matter. For this, we bring you three world-exclusives, starting with the tyre cremating, 1,479bhp Koenigsegg Regera. Can it be a genuine challenger for the Bugatti Chiron? TG finds out.

Elsewhere, we head to a film set in LA to investigate the car that can transform into any car you want: the virtual reality Blackbird. Our final world-exclusive takes the shape of the Bladeglider, the triple-seat sports car that Nissan believes will excite your grandkids.

Continuing our A-Z of the future, P is for the all new Porsche Panamera, in which Rory Reid discovers that the death of diesel has been greatly exaggerated. L is for Luxury with Mercedes’ vision of next generation opulence, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 and T is for Turbo as the BMW M3, Honda Civic Type-R and Porsche 911 do battle in our main group test. We also find out how your car will soon be talking to its surroundings, get excited about roboracers, check out Audi’s moon rover and chart the history of the ultimate future gazer, Elon Musk.

Also this month, we take the McLaren P1 for its first MOT, take a first look at Zagato’s Aston Vanquish Volante, try drifting in a 1,390bhp Nissan GT-R, chart the evolution of the Mazda MX-5 and see what happens in a day in the life of Chris Harris.

Plus we drive all the new cars that matter, including the Mazda CX-3, Peugeot 308 GTi 270, Ford S-Max, Renault Megane GT 205, Hyundai Tuscon, AlfaWorks GT4C and Caterham Seven 310. And in our head-to-head tests the BMW M2 takes on the Porsche 718 Cayman S, while Audi Q7 battles the Volvo XC90.
