Top Gear Live breaks records in Warsaw

Published: 23 Sep 2013

Rolling Stones at the O2? The Who at Wembley? Rhydian at the Newtown Powys Town Hall? All cower under the firey, crashy might of Top Gear Live in Poland, which attracted a record-breaking 58,000-strong crowd. The biggest we've ever had.

Now, TG Live fans will know we're used to playing in front of a few thousand people at arenas like Earls Court in London and the Birmingham NEC, but the Warsaw gig took things up a notch. Exact numbers aren't yet confirmed, but early indications suggest it's also a record for the venue. The same venue that held the Euro 2012 games... As Jeremy said on Twitter before our head count, "57,000 people have turned up to watch Top Gear Live. Some poo is coming out."

Yep, Jeremy, James, Richard, and many things aflame drew international sport-sized numbers to the Warsaw National Stadium, where you witnessed two blazing Porsche 911s, a lady with flamethrowers for arms (no, really), England vs. Poland car football, much crashy Reliant Robin racing, and a monster truck shooting motorbikes at things...

But it wasn't all wanton destruction. The Verva Street Racing crew, who gathered a grid of Porsche Super Cup 911s, and a fleet of Dakar cars and trucks, joined us to hold their first ever stadium event. We also gave you 26 of the world's most beautiful machines - including a Rolls-Royce Phantom, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458 Spider, and Porsche 911 Turbo - with our supercar catwalk show.

Oh, and talking of record breaking, remember this video of the world's fastest drift? That was Kuba Przygoński celebrating the announcement that the boys were coming to Poland...
