Top Gear’s Bargain of the Week - Bargain of the Week: June 5 news - 2009
It’s Friday, so it’s time for another Top Gear Bargain of the Week, where we trawl the classifieds for a literally unbelievable deal. OK, not quite literally unbelievable. Very tough to believe, at least.
Anyhow. This week we’ve been digging around for a bargain for all you who would love to take advantage of the scrappage scheme but (a) don’t have the cash for an off-the-forecourt new car or (b) don’t have an old banger to trade in.
Which means we’re going cheap. Seriously cheap. Under five grand cheap. Yes, this Peugeot 107 is on sale for just £4999 with just 8900 miles on the clock. That’s incredible value: the 08-plate 107 1.0 Urban would have cost £8350 new, and we’d expect to pay around £6500 for a clean example with 15,000 miles on the clock.
Our man on the inside reckons you’d clear a profit even if you bought it up and shifted it straight on to auction. But you don’t want to do that – the 107 is decent to drive and doesn’t suffer from Peugeot’s traditional dodgy build quality: thank the Toyota tie-up for that.
