Tanner Foust drives the Focus RS500 at the ‘Ring

Published: 24 Oct 2011

Tanner Foust enjoys speed. But not like you and I. No, our dear Top Gear USA host’s speed isn’t prefaced with bouts of sheer terror sandwiching a few milliseconds of driving prowess. He’s fast and competent, all the time.

Today, we see him in a short clip supplied by the good people at Ford, who gave the X-Games Rally gold medallist and Pikes Peak competitor a go in the Batman-spec Focus RS500. You will remember this Focus from the time it nearly melted TopGear.com’s Internet with its popularity.

Anyway, Tanner dons his finest racing gloves and takes to the Nürburgring. We’re still waiting for the full on-board lap, but you will notice that he overtakes something a lot more expensive than the sold-out, 350bhp RS500.

Don’t forget, this is a man who eats danger for breakfast and tells fear to spin on his propshaft. Remember the time he did a real-life Hot Wheels jump, and when he nearly missed said jump at 100mph?
