Jaguar reveals straight-six F-Pace 300 and 400 Sport models
Diesel and petrol mild-hybrid SUVs revealed with pretty looks and some connectivity
Jaguar has revealed a pair of its F-Pace SUVs that want to lean more towards the sporty side of the spectrum. Because they’re quite literally called SPORT. Meet the F-Pace 300 SPORT, and the F-Pace 400 SPORT.
We’ll lower the caps to save shouting throughout, and focus instead on some DETAILS. Whoops. The 300 Sport gets Jag’s inline 3.0-litre diesel – already available in lesser trims for the F-Pace – here with a pair of turbos delivering 296bhp and 478lb ft of torque. Jag is claiming a 0-62mph time of 6.4secs and a top whack of 143mph. Mediumly-fast, then.
This diesel returns a claimed 38.2mpg and emits 194g/km, and features mild-hybrid assistance in the shape of a belt-integrated generator in place of a normal alternator. It’s able to recuperate energy through braking and store it in a 48V battery.
The 400 Sport on the other hand, brings a straight-six engined car into the petrol line-up (other variants include a four-pot or a V8). This gets the same hybrid assistance but a lot more power (395bhp) from the 3.0-litre ‘Ingenium’ sixer, though torque's a little down versus the diesel (406lb ft). This engine features such hits as a turbo and electric supercharger, and will move the F-Pace from 0-62mph in 5.4secs and onto a top speed of 155mph.
Outside of that, the F-Pace Sport cars get a pair of new colours, both shades of, um, grey. That, and gloss black detailing, 21in or 22in optional forged wheels, heated and ventilated seats, suede headlining and a panoramic roof. Oh, and both cars get Amazon Alexa as standard. You'll note neither car gets any suspension tweaks, but then the F-Pace was already a tidy handling SUV.
Prices start at £62,250 for the diesel 300 Sport, and £68,520 for the petrol 400 Sport. FYI, the range-topping F-Pace SVR with that 5.0-litre V8 starts at £81,510…
