Whatever happened to... the Jaguar C-X75?

It featured in the James Bond movie Spectre back in 2015, so why was the C-X75 prototype never put into production?

What is it?

A hypercar to celebrate 75 years of Jaguar. A turbine powered engineering hammer blow to make the likes of Ferrari and Lambo look Victorian. Revealed in 2010, interest was high in the stunning Ian Callum design, so Jaguar set about putting it into limited production.

Did they build any?

Having decided using diesel fuelled turbines to make electricity for e-motors was a tad impractical, Jag got Williams Advanced Engineering to work up an alternative solution: a 1.6-litre turbo and supercharged 4cyl with e-boost to deliver 850bhp, 31 miles of EV running and a 200mph top speed.

It worked! We tested it and were wowed by the massive pace, but Jaguar got cold feet and canned the whole shebang.

Where are they now?

The prototypes were auctioned, and the design was recycled into a Bond villain car for 2015’s Spectre. Since then one customer (at great expense) had his refinished with new paint and trim.
