Watch: Ferrari 488 GTB slides around Spain
Stop what you're doing and turn this one up: loud, yellow Fezza gets mostly sideways
Though we sighed a collective, um, sigh when Ferrari first announced that its 458 replacement would come swinging two turbos, we needn't have worried. The raw stats alone for the new 488 GTB are enough to please: 661bhp and, perhaps even more significantly, 560lb ft of torque, that latter figure available from under 3,000rpm.
It’ll officially do 0–62mph in 3.0secs, and hit 124mph barely five seconds later. Fast enough then, to cause "a string of involuntary expletives to spew forth from your lips", as we found out when we drove it last year.
More so, it'll do the slidey, dramatic stuff with ease, too, as deftly showcased in this video. It's an advert put together by Pennzoil, but all we can see - and hear - is that yellow 488 GTB doing ludicrously quick stuff on a closed course around Barcelona.
Oh yes, about that noise. Though the 488 trades some of the 458's shrill with outright shove, there's no denying that it still sounds unique.
So, stop what you're doing, turn it up loud, and hit play.
Ferrari's 488 GTB has gone turbo, but what's it like to drive? TG finds out
