Wallpapers: McLaren 675LT vs Lambo Aventador SV vs Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Freshen up your desktop with three brightly-coloured supercars in a biblical rainstorm

Published: 18 Apr 2016

The Hardknott Pass is the steepest, gnarliest, twistiest, narrowest and most pointless road in the whole of the UK. So what three cars did we decide to throw up it? The Lamborghini Aventador SVMcLaren 675LT and Porsche GT3 RS – all in the name of science of course.

After all, these are cars that come with number plates and are destined for the roads. So what happens when you do take the rawest and most uncompromising drivers’ cars of the past 12 months away from the pristine tarmac of the world’s greatest race tracks, replace it with the most pitted and broken Roman roads in the UK, then add biblical UK weather? Check it out for yourself above.

It’s safe to say that on 30 per cent inclines, corkscrew surfacing, potholes, rocks, and hairpins (and with minimal visibility), the 493bhp Porsche, 666bhp McLaren and 742bhp Lamborghini (with nose lift) did better than you might expect.

But you really need to read about our epic journey from London, to the Lakes, across the M6 into the Pennines to get the full story. Click here to do that

When you’re done, come back and treat yourself to some snaps from the gallery above to freshen up your desktop. All you have to do is click the full screen/make-it-big icon in the bottom-right of the gallery above, scroll through to the picture that takes your fancy, and then save the super high-res image.
