Top Gear magazine news - Free Stig DVD - 2009

Published: 27 Mar 2009

Some say he invented Betamax, and its subsequent failure is the reason why he never talks. All we know is there's a free Stig DVD with the latest issue of Top Gear magazine.

It's a tribute to the most epic Stig moments of all time, including the Big Race Across London, the 24-hour race at Silverstone... and that unforgettable Koenigsegg lap. You can't buy it in the shops, either, so this'll be your only chance. Check out this little clip for a taster:

Also in the magazine this month, Jag's awesome new XFR supersaloon leads the BMW M5Merc CLS AMG and Caddy CTS-V on an epic road trip from Las Vegas to San Francisco. That's a 1,500-mile blast, armed with 34 cylinders and more than 2000bhp, taking in a NASCAR meet, the Rat Pack's secret desert run, Pebble Beach, the Pacific Coast Highway and Laguna Seca. Oh, and a whole bunch of 1970s Trans-Am cars. Yeehaw, etc...

We also get a good look at Lamborghini's hardcore, lightweight Murcielago SV and Ferrari's track-only development weapon, the Enzo-hunting 599XX. Between them they'll muster nearly 1400bhp and set you back over £1.3m, and do all sorts of physics-warping things to your innards for good measure. Good company for the million quid, 700bhp Aston One-77, then, which gets a thorough technical working-over in the hands of our man Paul Horrell.

Plus, the sixth-generation Golf GTI  has arrived, and it might just be the best car in the world right now. Not just the best hot hatch. The best car. If, for some inexplicable reason, you're thinking about buying anything else, we've also driven the Audi RS6 SaloonVW Scirocco diesel, Porsche Cayenne diesel and the very Audi A4-like Seat Exeo.

So that's the April issue of Top Gear magazine, in newsagents now.
