Twelve supercars will go on display at the annual Pebble Beach car week. Nothing surprising about that - California's annual car extravaganza regularly hauls in some of the finest machinery on planet earth.
No, twelve rather small supercars will go on display. Carved from a single piece of stone. And measuring in at between 21in to 31in each. Aww.
It's the work of a sculptor named Kellen Silverthorn, who has spent countless hours honing, weaving and milling twelve supercar stone sculptures. They're all one-offs, weigh between 40lb to 80lb each, and include things like the 1930s Auto Union streamliner to the Koenigsegg Regera (above).
"The process is a complete immersion in both the artistic form of the automobile through the ages, and the planet’s endless bounty of elegant stone,” said Silverthorn. “Each work is a stand-alone object of beauty and artistry, just like the exquisite cars they mirror.”
He's not wrong. Have a scan through these images to see just how intricate some of the tiny detailing is. Your favourite?
