The Koenigsegg Regera has sold out
Company confirms all 80 examples of its 1,479bhp hybrid hypercar are sold
Koenigsegg considers it good news, you might consider it bad: confirmation has today arrived that every single Koenigsegg Regera scheduled for production has been sold.
That’s 80 units, which makes it the largest single vehicle series in Koenigsegg’s short – but incredibly fast – history.
“The Regera is a new high watermark for Koenigsegg Automotive,” explains company boss Christian von Koenigsegg. “It has been our greatest technical challenge and as such, it is also our greatest technical triumph.
“That our customers and dealers have seen and appreciated the work we’ve done on the Regera is a source of great pride for everyone at Koenigsegg,” he added.
And it’s some piece of work. The Regera sits alongside the Agera RS as Koenigsegg’s two model line-up as a ‘grand touring’ offering, which is a surprising choice of phrase, given that it boasts a triple-electric motor system (two on each rear wheel, one on the crank) coupled to a twin-turbo V8 engine to produce 1,479bhp. Torque? There is plenty, at 1,465lb ft.
All this is delivered to the rear wheels and rear wheels alone, via Koenigsegg’s fancy ‘Direct Drive’ setup, which does away with a conventional gearbox, and instead adopts a hydraulic coupling with “lock-up” capability.
While you might not understand the drivetrain, you don’t require CvK’s considerable technical know-how to understand sheer speed. It’ll do 0-62mph in a scant 2.8secs, and top out at over 250mph. It’ll also go from 90-155mph in just 3.2secs.
It’s also properly, out of this world insane. We’ve had a world exclusive drive in the Regera, so click the link below to find out on what you’ve just missed out on...
