Surprise! The gorgeous Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale has completely sold out

Still, you’ll be able to gawp at Alfa’s new supercar at a classic car show in Bologna

Published: 20 Oct 2023

In news that has shaken the very core of the automotive industry, Alfa Romeo has today revealed that its limited-edition, gorgeous new supercar – the 33 Stradale – has completely sold out.

Only 33 examples of the new 33 Stradale will be built as a V6 or BEV homage to Alfa’s 1967 near-masterpiece of the same name. That the new supercar has sold out in the two months since its late August reveal is unheard of.

We jest, of course. Not just because limited edition supercars rarely stay unsold for long, but also because this has to be one of the modern car world’s most delectable shapes. The original was one of the finest looking cars ever made – designed by Franco Scaglione – and this one picks up nicely.

“The new 33 Stradale is a respectful modern take on the stylistic features of its forerunner and takes centre stage in the Alfa Romeo manifesto to anticipate some of the brand’s future lines,” said Alfa.

“With a run of just 33 cars, all already snapped up, it has been handcrafted in collaboration with Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, a coachbuilder with top-quality, tailor-made standards that guarantee an obsessive attention to detail.”

Indeed, all 33 owners can add to this level of detail, Alfa saying each car will essentially stand as a one-off ‘work of art’ via extensive customisation options. “It has involved its customers in the project from the very beginning to create their very own vehicle, with their own unique features,” said Alfa.

Features that build on the 33’s core: owners can go for either a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 combustion-engined Stradale with 620bhp, or as a fully electric tri-motor version with more than 750bhp on offer – though we’re still waiting on exact details on this latter car. There’s a carbon monocoque underpinning the whole thing, aluminium subframes, and the usual supercar flair of top-hinged butterfly doors among lots of lovely details.

You can read the full debrief on Alfa’s gorgeous new 33 here, but the headline each of the 33 owners will have quickly digested is thus: it cost them €1.7m a pop before tax. Mere mortals can at least gawp at the 33 Stradale as it makes its debut at the ‘Salone Auto e Moto d’Epoca’ – a classic car show – in Bologna, Italy.
