Rimac is celebrating its 15th birthday with… the Nevera 15th Anniversary Edition

Rimac Automobili is 15 years old, and what better way to celebrate than with a special, limited edition Nevera hypercar. Welcome then, to the Rimac Nevera 15th Anniversary Edition.

We’ll forgive the rather stale name, because it really is rather impressive how quickly Mate Rimac has grown his automotive empire. He first started the company back in 2009 having been told it’d be impossible in Croatia. He then converted his E30 BMW 3 Series into an EV and used it to set a whole host of world records in 2011.

The Concept_One was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in that same year, and in 2016 Rimac delivered its first customer car. It then revealed the C_Two in 2018, and that would eventually become the 1,888bhp Nevera. Oh, and Mate also managed to find the time to take over Bugatti – creating Bugatti Rimac in the process to sit alongside Rimac Technology and Rimac Energy in the Rimac Group. Does the man ever sleep?

The Rimac brand now apparently has over 2,200 employees working out of sites across four countries in Europe, and a giant Rimac Campus HQ and factory is currently being built just outside Zagreb.

The Nevera 15th Anniversary Edition celebrates all of that. We’re told that just nine will be built, and all will get dual-colour alloy wheels, special badging and that circuit board-style racing stripe. They’ll also get copper switchgear inside with more badging and special script. The copper paint on the exterior represents the first time Rimac has finished a Nevera in a matte colour. Nice two-tone with the bare carbon fibre underneath, too.

Each anniversary special will cost €2.35m all-in and each customer will get bespoke fitted luggage that matches the interior of their new car. There are apparently a few still left to sell (if you're interested) and it’ll make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week, with the first customer car up above taking on the hill climb. Careful with that fancy paint.

“Honestly, when I started to tinker with my first car in a garage, I couldn’t have even dreamt of being where we are 15 years later,” said Mate Rimac.

“There were so many times in the early years that we really thought the company wouldn’t make it, so reaching the 15-year milestone felt like it was worthy of a celebration. The 15th Anniversary Edition Nevera is the car that marks our progress, revelling just how far we’ve come.

"From garage to global; from worrying about keeping the lights on to a €2bn valuation; from converted BMW 3 Series to the world’s fastest accelerating production car and from hypercar maker to Tier 1 EV tech supplier and energy storage pioneers. All achieved in a country where all of this would have sounded like science fiction at the time of founding the company.”
