Ride onboard the £2.6m Chiron Pur Sport at the Nürburgring

Track-ready Bugatti undergoes final testing at the ‘Ring

Published: 02 Jul 2020

No, Bugatti hasn’t released a ‘Ring time for its new, more track-focussed Chiron Pur Sport. Sorry. Probably never will, either. The deeply cool, battle-scarred black-on-black prototype’s visit to the Green Hell was merely to finalise the £2.6million hypercar’s set-up before production begins a bit later this year.

“With its unusual topography, numerous bends and the high-speed section from Döttinger Höhe onwards, the Nordschleife is very demanding for both driver and vehicle so it’s ideal for our new car,” says Stefen Ellrott, Bugatti’s Head of Development.

“This is why we’re running the final tests for fine-tuning the suspension and safety systems here in the Eifel. In addition to driving on the track, we also go out on the motorways and public roads around the Nürburgring, since there are lots of roads with curves and hills here.”

The Chiron Pur Sport is a serious item. Not just a regular Chiron with fancy alloys and a bigger spoiler. The front and rear springs are 65 per cent and 33 per cent stiffer respectively, it has much shorter gearing (the Pur Sport is two seconds quicker from 37 to 75mph than the standard car) and it weighs about 50kg less. Click play above to see it tackle a few of the ‘Ring’s MANY corners.

60 will be built, with prices starting at around £2.6million before tax.
