This rather lovely Chiron Super Sport pays tribute to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic

Bugatti certainly isn’t shy about delving into its own history books for inspiration when it’s creating one-offs and special editions, so perhaps this latest Chiron Super Sport shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

Still pretty special though, isn’t it? As you can tell from the images above, the Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’ celebrates the stunning 1930s Type 57 SC Atlantic, and we’re told it was commissioned by a 70-year-old lady who had been infatuated with the Atlantic ever since seeing it at the Mullin Automotive Museum 20 years ago.

Apparently it was a year-long process customising the Chiron through Bugatti’s Sur Mesure programme, and the result is a Super Sport that’s painted in a special silver-tinted blue colour that matches one of the three remaining Type 57 SC Atlantics. You’ll have noticed the new grille too, which gets polished vertical lines and a thicker central spine.

Elsewhere there are graphics – including a hand-drawn outline of the Type 57 SC – under the rear wing, as well as polished chrome and blue wheels. Oh, and inside there’s a full ‘Gaucho’ leather interior and plenty of plaques as one would expect when spending many millions on a one-off.

“Eventually, the ’57 One Of One’ will achieve the same iconic status as its predecessor, earning a rightful place at the Concours d’Élegance,” says Bugatti rather confidently. “But for now, the customer is enjoying her Bugatti driving experience, having explored the scenic routes of the American West behind the wheel of her exceptional Bugatti on the US Grand Tour.”
