The Mazzanti Evantra Pura is a 751bhp V8-engined Italian hypercar

Plenty of supercar/hypercar startups use Chevrolet’s range of small-block LS V8 engines. Still a bit of a shock to see one taking pride of place in an all-Italian hypercar built in Tuscany, though, isn’t it?

Yep, this is the Mazzanti Evantra Pura, and its 6.2-litre supercharged powerplant comes all the way from the US of A. 

You may remember Mazzanti from back in 2016 when it launched the 1,000bhp Millecavalli. Now, the Evantra Pura isn’t quite that powerful – it gets 751bhp and 715lb ft of torque – and although it looks similar to the Millecavalli, apparently the whole focus is on a more ‘pure’ driving experience. Makes sense. 

As a result it only weighs 1,280kg. It’ll top 223mph too and manages 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds. It’s still rapid, then.

Oh, and you’ll have noticed the absolutely wild wrap that it’s wearing in the images above. It’s a wonder it took us this long to get onto it. Apparently it was created for this year’s Florence Biennale art exhibition where the car was unveiled. That’s the Goddess of Immortality on the bonnet and a Biancone bird of prey (otherwise known as the short-toed snake eagle) on the roof – because why wouldn’t those two things be on your new lightweight hypercar?
