Lamborghini Aventador Roadster SV will debut at Pebble Beach
UPDATE: confirmation that 740bhp, open-topped version of ultimate V12 Lambo will be shown off in California in August. You will want one
Lamborghini has announced that it is to build a roadster version of the hardcore Aventador LP 750-4 SV. It will be called the Lamborghini LP 750-4 SV Roadster. You will agree that, as news goes, this is of the ‘Very Good' variety.
The announcement was made by none other than the Big Boss himself, Lamborghini chief Stephan Winkelmann, at last weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

"We will produce a roadster version," Winkelmann said, in a short, brief statement. "Our dealers worldwide are now taking orders."
Just 500 Aventador SV Roadsters will be built, exactly 100 less than the production run of the Aventador SV Coupe. All those hardtops, Lamborghini also announced, have already been accounted for. "The Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is the most pure, sports-oriented and emotional incarnation of a Lamborghini," said Winkelmann. "All 600 units have been sold."

So, the SV Roadster will come with that same 6.5-litre V12, producing 740bhp and a 0-62mph time that will likely get very, very close to the Coupe's 2.8-second time. Ditto for the Coupe's 217mph+ top speed. Oh, and expect much carbon fibre, noise and wing.
We'll bring you more info and pictures of the SV Roadster once it has officially launched at Pebble Beach, in mid August. For now, tell us, is this the ultimate version of the ultimate Aventador? You'll certainly hear that naturally-aspirated V12 a little clearer, which can only be a good thing, right?
