It’s time for a play on the Porsche 911 Dakar configurator
Porsche’s brilliantly barmy off-road 911 is here, but how would you spec yours?
Porsche has finally pulled the wraps off its long-awaited, high-riding 911 Dakar, and if you want the full story then all you need to do is click these blue words.
If you want the short story, then it’s a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat six sending 473bhp to all four wheels through an eight speed PDK gearbox, with 50mm more suspension travel than a standard 911 and proper chunky tyres. Oh, and there’s a roof rack, but that doesn’t seem to be an option on the configurator just yet.
Still, the configurator is what we’re here to talk about, because despite the lack of rooftop storage options it is absolutely brilliant. As with all Porsche configurators you can pick from a huge list of Paint to Sample colours, and we’re really not sure what we’d go for were we lucky enough to be getting one of the 2,500 examples.
What do you reckon, Internet? Would be pretty difficult to ignore that old Rothmans (now ‘Roughroads’) livery, wouldn’t it?
