Here are some new pictures of the 998bhp Aston Martin Valhalla in testing
Aston releases images of its V8 hybrid hypercar at Silverstone. We want one
We may not have any actual Formula 1 to get excited about each weekend right now, but Aston Martin is still using F1-derived tech to perk up our Fridays.
You see, it has just released new pictures of its upcoming mid-engined hypercar – called the Valhalla – testing on the Stowe Circuit at Silverstone. Looks fantastic even in that silly camouflage, doesn’t it?
We mention F1 tech because the Valhalla is built around a bespoke carbon fibre tub and apparently deploys a seating position that’s inspired by the AMR23 F1 car. There’s fancy aero too, with venturi tunnels, that rear wing and a massive rear diffuser combining to create 600kg of downforce at 150mph. Shame Aston hasn’t let us see that rear end just yet.
We probably shouldn’t forget about the powertrain either. The Valhalla will use AMG’s flat-plane crank 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that makes over 800bhp, but it’ll be combined with two electric motors on the front axle for four-wheel drive and a total of 998bhp. Good grief. Aston says that 0-62mph should take 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 217mph.
The Valhalla’s power will be sent through an eight-speed DCT gearbox and there will be an electronic limited slip diff on the rear axle, plus carbon ceramic brakes and push rod suspension with inboard springs and dampers to reduce unsprung mass. Serious stuff.
Of course, we first saw the Valhalla (great name, by the way) at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019, but it looks like 2024 could finally be its year to make production. And we don’t blame Aston for the wait, it was probably just a little bit busy trying to get the big brother Valkyrie into proper production up until now…
