Grand designs: Bugatti is expanding its operations at Molsheim
New facility coming next year; will support production of Bolide, W16 Mistral and first Rimac-guided car
Not the most exciting teaser sketch we’ve ever seen, but it’s an important teaser sketch, this: the black building you see on the right there is Bugatti’s newest facility at Molsheim, set to come online in the second half of next year.
It doesn’t look like much, but when it opens the two-floor building will help support production of the 1,578bhp Bolide, the €5 million Mistral roadster and the first new car produced under the stewardship of the Bugatti Rimac company. A lot of tasty metal in one place, then.
All 2,120 square metres of the new digs will be filled by new team members, with Bugatti preparing a recruitment drive that will see its workforce more than double by the end of 2027, it claims.
Key areas being targeted include quality control, planning, logistics and production, while a new apprenticeship scheme has already seen its trainee positions filled. Imagine if your first job was learning the ropes at Bugatti…
“The addition of this new facility at our home in Molsheim will be timed perfectly with the expansion of the brand and product range, showcasing the strength of Bugatti as we head into an exciting future,” said Christophe Piochon, president of Bugatti Automobiles.
We expect the fancy press shots will still be taken on the driveway in front of Bugatti’s Chateau Saint Jean, mind.
