Is Gordon Murray prepping a hardcore, lightweight T.33 'S'?

A 'new GMA T.33 supercar' will be unveiled at Goodwood this year. Hoo boy...

Published: 17 Mar 2025

You know that Really Big House in West Sussex which hosts that Really Big Car Show every summer? Gordon Murray has used it as the backdrop for numerous car launches in the past, and it looks like he’ll be at it again in 2025 with a spicier version of the T.33.

That very likely means the T.33 - which has already spawned a Spider - is gaining an ‘S’ version much like its Big Bro. With the T.50s, the changes from the standard car are… substantial.

Murray started by ditching the air-con, infotainment system and most of the instrumentation, leading to a 94kg weight loss to total 890kg. He then equipped it with more aero-friendly parts like a sharper front splitter, a 1.7-metre wide delta wing and a dorsal fin.

These changes mean the T.50s can put out as much as 1,500kg of downforce, and while the T.33s probably won’t be quite as strong in its approach, we’re still expecting more focused styling and a few changes to the engine.

Speaking of which, the T.33 uses the same 3.9-litre naturally aspirated V12 as the T.50, albeit detuned to 607bhp and with bespoke camshafts, cylinder heads and variable valve timing. We’re fully expecting Murray and his merry band of boffins to have a fettle, considering the T.50s produces 54bhp more than the T.50 in max attack mode.

Murray has even described the T.50s as being “a serious machine” and not just a “tarted-up road car with a wing on the back”. Interesting to see just how much of that philosophy the T.33s retains. See you at the Really Big House to find out.
