Five reasons why you need this Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG
Super-rare, 580bhp super-charged road-legal monster is coming up for auction

It's one of just 40 right-hand-drive CLK DTMs built
A special version of the DTM racing car, this road-legal Merc CLK was built in very limited numbers in 2004. 100, to be precise. And of those 100 Coupes released for sale - via special order or an invitation of ownership - just 40 cars were built with the steering wheel on the correct side.
Unsurprisingly, they sold out pretty fast. Which means trying to find one is quite difficult.

AMG might be hot for turbos these days, but previous generations of Affalterbach's road cars featured superchargers. So, this one gets a full-fat, 5.4-litre supercharged V8 up front, churning out around 580bhp (the same as the new AMG GT R), sent of course, to the rear wheels via a five-speed semi-automatic gearbox.
As such, it'll go from 0-60mph in 3.8s - still fast today - and top out at a limited 200mph. Yes, limited to 200mph.
There's also a proper mechanical limited slip diff, and modified ESP.
It's got lots of carbon fibre
Modelled on the racing version used by DTM hero and AMG racer Bernd Schneider, the MegaMerc gets a deeper front apron, larger intake ducts, flared wheelarches and a boot-mounted rear wing. All developed from DTM.
And like the DTM car, many of this road car's body panels were built from carbon fibre, along with interior panels too.

Though originally bound for Singapore in 2006, this particular CLK is UK registered and has been used very rarely. In fact, it has covered just 9,940 miles from new, and comes with a fully documented Mercedes-Benz service history and is said to be in "excellent condition throughout" with 'expert' care and maintenance afforded upon it.
Jenson Button used to own one
And we're quite certain Jenson knows a thing or two about fast road cars. Yep, high profile owners of the CLK DTM AMG included TG hero Button, and Takuma Sato.
The Historics' auction will take place at Mercedes-Benz World on 26 November. For more details, click here
