The Carabinieri just got even cooler with its new Maserati MCPura police car
Italian police force adds a Maser supercar and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio to its fleet
You see, it’s not just Dubai where supercars are used as police cars, because the Carabinieri has just added a brand-new Maserati MCPura to its fleet. Mamma mia.
Of course, the MCPura is the new name for the facelifted MC20, which means the Italian law enforcement agency can now deploy a carbon-tubbed, dry-sumped two-seater with its ‘Nettuno’ twin-turbo V6 engine sending 621bhp and 538lb ft of torque to the rear wheels. Probably best not to run the next time it tries to pull you over.
Although, the MCPura won’t be on traffic duties. Instead, it has apparently been kitted out with special equipment “for the rapid and safe transport of organs and blood”. Yep, much like Italy’s other national police force does with Lamborghini Huracans.
We’re told this will be the first time the Carabinieri have used a Maserati, while Stellantis has also handed over something slightly more familiar in the form of an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Given it also makes over 500bhp and has slightly more space inside, this too will be deployed in medical emergencies, and both cars have been decked out in the classic Carabinieri livery.
So come on then, where do these two rank in the coolest police cars of all time?
