Aston Martin will reveal its all-new facelifted Vantage on 12 February
Minor exterior design changes and mechanical ones as Aston preps its baby sports car for round two against the Germans
The second-generation Aston Martin Vantage is all set for its mid-cycle refresh, with changes headlined by a remodelled grille and a spate of other small but noticeable tweaks elsewhere.
The teased image is, on first impressions, completely useless. A tin of baked beans with an Aston logo would’ve been better… or would it? The front wheel arch section has seen a redesign, with two deep indentations met in the middle by new badging. It looks much more aggressive than previously, and we expect this ethos to continue everywhere else. Perhaps the teaser image isn’t so useless after all.
Since the Vantage is a direct rival to the Mercedes-AMG GT and the Porsche 911 range, Aston’s baby sports car must have a non-wavering commitment to speed. The current 4.0-litre V8 churns out 503bhp and 505lb ft of torque but expect a significant hike. Over 600bhp? More than 700bhp? Who knows.
You can also bank on a litter of special editions to be born from this new design too, as is the Aston way. So before long, expect another V12 Vantage, and perhaps even a reinterpretation of the F1 Edition or Speedster - with the latter lingering dangerously close to the million-pound mark at auctions.
Entry-level versions are likely to see a minor increase to position them closer to the £140,000 bracket. Who knows, maybe Aston will have a complete change of heart and demand three million pounds and a year’s supply of Haribos, because why not? All will be revealed on 12 February…
