9ff Porsche GT2 - GT2 hits 240mph - 2009
We can understand why you'd look at the Porsche GT2 and think, 'Very nice, but it's a bit... safe, isn't it?'
We can understand why a 523bhp engine strung out over the back, rear-wheel drive, a 3.7-second 0-62mph time and a 200mph-plus top speed might seem a touch dull. Why a car nicknamed ‘The Widow Maker' would get boring.
Which is why 9ff's 240mph GT2 (dubbed the BT-2) makes perfect sense. 9ff are the enterprising Germans behind the absurd 254mph, 987bhp GT9 - and they've got a 1,120bhp ‘R' version planned - who obviously decided they needed something a little more modest for weekdays.
Enter the BT-2, armed with 850bhp and 678lb ft of torque thanks to a new exhaust system and a reprogrammed ECU. It'll hit 60mph in three seconds flat - that's insanely, insanely fast - before topping out at 240mph.
9ff promises that a host of aerodynamic modifications will help to keep the BT-2 on the road, evidently unaware of that tiny inconvenience known as ‘physics'.
But, as we say, we understand the BT-2. It makes sense. Why have a widow maker when you can have a supersonic pâte factory?
