Zagato news - Zagato’s Alfa racer: a cut above - 2010
The Concorso d'Eleganza - the world's poshest car show, hosted on the banks of Lake Como - kicks off in a couple of days' time. Not that we're betting types, but we'd put a few quid on this, the Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, being the star of the show.
We've only got this top-down teaser image to go on at the moment, but what we know about the TZ3 sounds promising. Built to celebrate both Alfa's centenary and 90 years of collobation between the Italian manufacturer and design house Zagato, it's much more than a mere design exercise.
Instead, it's a full-blooded competition racer based on the more-than-adequate underpinnings of the Alfa 8C Competizione. Which means it should retain that rasping 4.7-litre V8, tucked inside a tubular frame and aluminium body with a carbon fibre tubular chassis.
The TZ3 has been built for an as-yet-unnamed German gentleman racer. We fear we shall be very jealous of this as-yet-unnamed German gentleman racer. We shall find out for sure in just a couple of days.
