Weismann MF5 Roadster news - Open Weis' - 2009

Published: 21 Aug 2009

Like the look of that Morgan Aero Supersports but fancy something a little more… Germanic?

Your prayers have been answered: German manufacturer Wiesmann is bringing a convertible version of its MF5 to the Frankfurt show next month.

It won’t be slow: the Roadster MF5 is powered by the same 507bhp V10 found in the BMW M5 and M6. That means a 0-60mph time of just under four seconds and a slightly scary top speed of 193mph.

The MF5 is built around an aluminium monocoque, and gets proper side impact protection, ABS and an extendable rear wing for added stability.

It won’t be cheap, either: Wiesmann is quoting a price of 189,000 Euro (about £163,000). At least you get exclusivity: just 55 convertible MF5s will be built.

We don’t know exactly what it’ll look like – the photo you see above is of the previous generation MF4 Roadster – don’t expect much of a departure from Wiesmann’s retro, low-slung formula. We’ll get a good look at the Roadster in Frankfurt next month.
