As the weekend's supercar implosion in Japan testifies, you can buy a supercar, but you can't buy luck. And if you click on, you'll see what happens if you run out of the latter while driving the former.

This is our collection of the ten best, or possibly worst, supercar crashes in TopGear.com's recent history. Nobody was hurt in any of these, but fetch a handkerchief - it ain't pretty...

Very rich woman crashes her Azure into a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche 911, and a Ferrari 430. Unsurprisingly, she was in Monaco, where the occasional rental Peugeot 306 is considered a rare, exotic breed. Good day to have a camera phone. Bad day to be an insurance underwriter.

Our fastest Star in a Reasonably Priced Car spun his £600,000 McLaren several times along the A605 at Haddon near Peterborough, before hitting a lamppost. Luckily, the irreplaceable national treasure survived intact. The replaceable one - less so.
