Is this the Merc SLS Black Series?
Our attention has been drawn to this video of a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG hooning around the Nürburgring. Mostly because there's a large question mark looming over it's 6.2-litre, V8-flavoured flanks.
Is this the long-awaited, fabled Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series?
BridgeToGantry.com - that Nürburg-obsessed Interweberiser - posted the video of the "curiously wide-bodied" SLS lapping the world-famous and utterly terrifying race circuit, and it's got tongues wagging.
Not least because rumours of the hardest ever Mercedes SLS have been circulating for some time. And knowing AMG's penchant for squeezing as much venom from their vipers as is humanly possible - witness the simply ludicrously yellow C63 AMG Black Series - it is safe to suggest they might be finalising one last hurrah for the big Benz.
Of course, we know nothing. Mercedes hasn't ever mentioned an SLS Black Series, and we've only just recently got wind of the ‘GT' SLS. However, Mercedes this year celebrates 45 years of AMG, and recently announced its plan to up the AMG model count from 22 to 30, of which one is the highly anticipated A45 AMG. In five years - for AMG's 50th birthday - they want to be selling over 30,000 cars.
So this would be a good place to start some conjecture, and for that, we hand it over to you, Internet. Your capacity for speculation knows no bounds, so have a watch of the video - and just listen to that glorious V8 - and then tell us what you think a Black Series SLS would look like.
To get you started, here are the stats for the standard model, if such an SLS exists: 6.2-litre V8, 571bhp, 479lb ft of torque, 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds, 197mph top speed, LOUD.
