Meet Prior’s wild body-kitted Corvette

Published: 16 Jan 2015

Is it fair to say the Corvette Stingray was 2014's biggest surprise?

Its level of sophistication and handling prowess certainly confound any old-fashioned stereotypes you care to throw its way, and as well as seeing off the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, it also bagged itself Jeremy's Car of the Year gong.

If you're sitting reading this unconvinced, though, finding it all too aesthetically similar to its predecessor, then perhaps Prior Design has the answer.

The German tuner specialises in body kits for all manner of performance metal, from Minis to Mercs, via a particularly alarming BMW 7-series and an Audi R8 with a ginormous wing.

And it's turned its attention away from products of its homeland to the latest ‘C7' Corvette Stingray.

Highlights? The huge, toothy mouth of its new front bumper and air-intake setup. A rear diffuser to shame many a racecar. Significantly more bulbous wheel arches which just about tuck themselves over some turbine-design 20in alloys.

Custom interiors are available on request, with the cabin exhibited here using lots of suede and some delightful tan. You may wish to request something in a different hue when you pop your order in...

Another option is Prior's custom exhaust system, though with its quad pipes split into a pair at each side of the car, you lose the central pipes that are a bit of a C7 signature.

What do we reckon, Internet? Has Prior given the ‘Vette the presence it deserves? Or is Chevy's own, suddenly quite subtle Z06 a better bet?
