Mansory’s 458 Spider ‘Monaco Edition’

Published: 18 May 2012

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. They say you should emulate your heroes. They also say eating cheese late at night gives you nightmares.

Clearly, ‘they' live by a strange set of principles, but consider each of those statements as you peruse the pictures of Mansory's newest creation, the 458 Spider ‘Monaco Edition'. Mansory - yes, this Mansory, and this Mansory - has deemed it prudent to attach extra parts to one of the prettiest Ferraris in history. For starters, there's a new skirt with bigger air intakes, together with a new bonnet that the firm reckons gives it an "aggressive look".

So it also looks like an Enzo, in kind of the same way as one of those replica Ferrari 355s sitting on a second-generation Toyota MR2.

Then of course, you find diffusers, a new rear skirt and a new rear wing, all of them made from carbon fibre that helps shed approximately 60kgs from the standard Spider's weight.

Allied to this is a new engine management system, a sports air filter and a sports exhaust system that subtly increases the power to 590bhp and 413lb ft of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 205mph. The Swiss tuners have also fitted sports shock absorbers with lowering springs that drop the ride height by 20mm. Oh, and it rides on 20in and 21in rims.

Mansory has fitted some Alcantara inside, but you'll see that in due course. Prepare yourself.

Just three are being made, each, says Mansory, fit to "make the pulses of convertible fans beat faster". What was that about eating cheese before bedtime?
