Honda NSX: sold out in the UK
Honda has confirmed that the order book for the as-yet unreleased NSX supercar has already closed.
Yep, the car that we've been waiting for since forever - and which we're still waiting for, Honda *cough* - has already sold out in the UK.
More than 100 customers have placed deposits for the all-wheel-drive supercar, meaning the pre-order bank has been closed. It's some leap of faith for those 100 or so folk, considering nobody outside of Honda has driven it.
But it promises to be a cracker. When TG.com caught up with the NSX's development chief Ted Klaus, he promised something that would take the fight squarely to the Italians.
"We have our sights set on the Ferrari 458 Italia," he told us. Not just that, but he name-checked cars like the Nissan GT-R, the C6-gen Corvette Z06 and the Audi R8. Expect around 500bhp - possibly more - from that twin-turbo V6 and electric motor hybrid powertrain.
Ted isn't concerned about outright power or performance, but about driver enjoyment. "Don't forget," Ted told us, "the original NSX didn't look so good on numbers. But then everyone drove the car and it became a new interpretation of the sportscar."
New Honda NSX aims for Ferrari 458: full story
The launch date is still being mooted at ‘early 2016', so we're still a while away from seeing it on an actual road. But if that's too far away, take heart in other news - order books for the 276bhp new Civic Type-R have opened.
Rustle up £3,000, wave it in the face of your nearest Honda dealer and you can secure the upcoming hot hatch, arriving next year. You can read more about the next Civic Type R here.
It's all looking good for Honda, no? Now all they need to do is FINISH THE NSX AND SHOW IT TO US.
