Ferrari store news - The Prancing Gifthorse - 2009
James May doesn't really agree with this sort of thing, but Ferrari have opened their first British store on London’s Regent Street, one of 25 shops worldwide.
Selling everything but real cars, it is proof - if ever it was needed - that the Italians have an insatiable ability for branding absolutely anything with the Prancing Horse logo.
Scuderia enthusiasts can browse through Ferrari’s colossal range of products, that starts around the humble key fob and standard fare baseball cap, working all the way up to branded leather jackets and handcrafted carbon fibre humidors.
Taking pride of place in the shop’s window is a replica F2005 Formula One car, and if your pockets are deep enough, then even that’s up for sale.
Cutting the inaugural ribbon on May 6th will be Ferrari F1 driver Kimi Räikkönen – who’s probably just hoping that some marketing-type will come up with Ferrari ice cream by then – the Wednesday before the Spanish Grand Prix.
We expect he’ll be out in one of the capitol city’s, erm, gentleman’s clubs that evening, so make sure your membership to a Stringfellow establishment is up-to-date.
If you want to get a feel for the store, get over to Ferrari’s all–new website, where you can take a virtual tour.
Be warned though, if you’re a sucker for Ferrari’s branded charms, this will get you on a London-bound train before the shop shuts tonight.
