Bugatti reveals new Legend special

Published: 09 Sep 2013

Welcome to the £1.92m ‘Jean Bugatti' Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, a special edition so special they're only making three.

It's part of the ‘legends' series that debuted at this year's Pebble Beach with the Jean-Pierre Wimille edition. This one doffs its cap to Jean Bugatti, oldest son of company founder Ettore, and creator of the stunning 57SC Atlantic, which this car loosely references.

So, what d'you get for your money? Nothing mechanical's changed over the 'standard' Veyron GSV - not that we're complaining about an 8.0litre W16-powered convertible with 1200bhp, 1106lb ft and a 0-62mph time of 2.6 seconds - but each JB edition gets platinum Bugatti horseshoe logos, with clear-coated naked carbon fibre bodywork, black wheels with diamond-cut edging, and Jean Bugatti's signature's lasered onto the petrol and oil cap.

Inside, it has the same beige and brown pallet as the Type 57SC Atlantic, and to ram the point directly down your throat, the old car's profile's embroidered onto the door cards and rear storage compartment with beige silk thread. The gear stick's also been carved out of rosewood. Which is nice.

You also get leather insert embossed with ‘Les Légendes de Bugatti' in the extended section of the centre console, and a door sill plate etched with the likeness and signature of Jean Bugatti himself.

So: this, or an original 57SC Atlantic, TG.com?
