Watch as the Polaris Slingshot goes longboarding

The Run The Coast road trip continues north to Portland and the Maryhill Loops

Head to the state capital of Oregon, the penultimate stop on the Polaris Slingshot’s Run The Coast road trip, and you’ll see plenty of bumper stickers and signs stating “Keep Portland Weird”.

The locals are fiercely proud of their city’s leftfield reputation, which can be summed up by one of Portland’s landmarks: Voodoo Doughnut, the only place in the world you can order a doughnut… with bacon.

So if you're looking to find the people that make Portland tick, what better place to park up the three-wheeled Slingshot for a quick break from the road to meet the crowds? 

And before the Slingshot left town for the Run The Coast finishing line in Seattle, there was one more stop to make, and this time with a few friends in tow. The Daddies longboarding team are based in Portland, but often make a two hour journey east to Washington State to practice their moves on a very special piece of tarmac. This time, they generously agreed to show the Slingshot around.  

The spectacular Maryhill Loops is the oldest paved road in the entire state, built in 1911 by engineer Sam Hill, and climbing up from the Columbia River Gorge into rolling, parched hills. These days, it's maintained by the local Maryhill Museum, who occasionally unlock the gates to allow local longboarders to race down the sinuous 3.7 miles of curves and canyons. And this time, there was a certain three-wheeled vehicle following close behind…
