The Polaris Slingshot meets America's coolest road
Run The Coast travels up the Pacific highways to face the crowds in San Francisco
What is the greatest driving road in the world?
It will forever remain a debate among the well-travelled… Italy and Switzerland’s Stelvio Pass, France’s Route de Napoleon, Romania’s Transfagarasan Highway and even Bolivia’s Death Road have staked their claim in the past, as has the Angeles Crest Highway Polaris previously visited on Run The Coast.
But for sheer romance, history and sensational views, can anything top Highway One from LA to San Francisco along the Pacific Coast? This is not a road to drive fast. Instead, over the hundreds of miles through wine country, the curves and canyons of Big Sur, over Bixby Bridge and onto the monied harbor town of Monterey, it’s somewhere to relax and take in the sights and smells of America’s most iconic drive.
Click the video above to follow the Polaris Slingshot on its journey down this legendary route, before Polaris’ Run The Coast road trip arrives in San Francisco to see what the crowds of locals and tourists make of the three-wheeled Slingshot.
Almost 400 miles covered by the Slingshot so far, but still plenty to go, as next up un Run The Coast, Polaris and the Slingshot heads to the pines and cities of Oregon to meet some very special guests…
