Video: news from the Coldest Journey
If you're a proper TopGear.communist, you'll know that we've been tracking the Coldest Journey team as they take their CAT D6Ns across Antarctica... in the middle of winter.
Why? They want to be the first people in history to cross the unforgiving continent in winter. This is a challenge that's already consumed Sir Ranulph Feinnes' inclusion (he had to leave due to frostbite). And he's hardly known for giving up easily...
No mean feat, then. And these videos demonstrate the sort of challenges the team faces. The first shows Ian Prickett demonstrating how the Cat D6Ns have been used to complete possibly the longest Antarctic winch recovery in history, while negotiating a severe crevasse field. The second shows the expedition team using a thermal tent to conduct essential repair work on Spencer's Cat D6N.
