Weird press shots: yes, that is a dog sitting on a BMW M1
This week’s weird press shot comes courtesy of BMW circa 1978
Sometimes the photographs carmakers use to announce the launch of a new car are downright odd. Take this one, a genuine photograph issued to the media by BMW in 1978, just as the M1 went on sale. And yes, that is a dog. We don’t know its name, nor why it’s perched atop BMW’s then-new mid-engined supercar. But we do know it is A Good Boy/Girl (because aren’t they all?), and that the photo is most excellent.
More dogs in promotional photographs, please, car manufacturers of the world. This is a hill I’m willing to die on.
