We must have this bare carbon Alfaholics GTA-R
Restomod Alfa now gets the option of a full carbon body. Oof
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Alfaholics. But don’t fret – the Alfa 105-series specialist is still beavering away in its Bristol warehouse, building as many fantabulous GTA-Rs as it can manage.
In case you’ve forgotten just what an Alfaholics GTA-R is, click here to watch our man Chris Harris have a go in the then range-ropping 290, and then here to read our full review. Done? Good – now onto today’s news, which is that the GTA-R 300 is now very much A Thing. And it’s excellent.
The 300 is broadly the same as the 290, but it gets a full carbon-fibre body that not only looks spectacular, but saves another 38kg of weight. So it tips the scales at under 800kg, which is substantially less than even a Volkswagen Up, meaning now you get 300bhp per tonne (hence the name). Said power comes from Alfa’s Twin Spark 2.0-litre, bored and stroked to a 2.3-litre capacity, producing 240bhp and 200lb ft.
The GTA-R 290, which features a carbon bonnet, boot-lid and doors, already costs around £240K depending on spec. We suspect the addition of yet more carbon has added many more pounds than it’s saved.
