These were the most expensive cars sold at Mecum’s record-breaking Kissimmee 2023 auction
And yes, the list of multi-million dollar sales was topped by a Ferrari…
Mecum Auctions in the US refers to its Kissimmee sale as “the world’s largest collector car auction”. A bold statement, but it has just become the first auction ever to sell over $200 million worth of cars in consecutive years, so we’d find it hard to disagree.
In 2022 the Kissimmee auction recorded $217 million worth of sales. However, after 12 days of furious bidding on a record 4,000 cars, the 2023 sale racked up a record total of $234 million. Good grief.
So, you want to know what the most expensive cars sold were, don’t you? Well, you can see the top six in the images above. Taking the top spot was a 1992 Ferrari F40 (number 179 of just 213 built to US specs) that had just under 11,000 miles on the clock and sold for a frankly terrifying $3.135m.
Next up was another Ferrari – a 1967 275 GTB/4 that made $2.97m. Then came a glorious late 1950s BMW 507 Roadster at $1.76m followed by the menacing-looking black 300SL Gullwing that fetched $1.65m.
They were trailed by a Ferrari 330 GTS that went for $1.595m and a brilliantly brown Dodge Hemi Daytona that sold for a whopping $1.43m. So come on then Internet, which of the six would you have?
