Porsche's stunning 968 L'ART speedster is on the streets of London

Fancy a glimpse of a whacky retro concept on humble (ish) urban streets? You've a few days to do it

Last month, Porsche showed us the bizarre but brilliant 968 L’ART. They call it an art car, we call it a delightfully Kermit-coloured bar of soap you can actually drive. Designs get no quirkier nor smoother.

Not least when they’re plonked in the middle of an urban environment among the lampposts and autumnal leaves, destined to stand out. It’s a mash up of a number of brands who likely have stores in the nearby streets – Porsche has worked with TAG Heuer, Recaro, Bose and Parisian fashion brand L'Art De L'Automobile over the course of 18 months to put together the car, which remains fully functional. Though given the roof has been sliced clean off to make a proper open speedster, we can’t speak of its rigidity.

Designed to mark the 30th anniversary of the 968, we’re told L’ART’s design “is based on the retro look of the early 1990s, but with an updated and modern flair”.

Reckon they’ve nailed it? It'll be on display on Brewer Street until November 28 should you need some time to make your mind up...
