This Porsche 911 by Theon Design is quite lovely

Reimagined 911 is Theon’s third commission. And boy does it look good

Published: 22 Apr 2021

Want a “reimagined” Porsche 911? You don’t have to go to Singer, y’know. You could give Oxfordshire’s Theon Design a call instead. The company, which specialises in restoring and reimagining old 911s, was founded in 2016 by automotive designer Adam Hawley and is now on its third “bespoke commission”.

A Theon commission costs from £300,000. That doesn’t include the donor Porsche 964 (which you can either supply yourself or enlist Theon to find for you) or local taxes. Each car takes 18 months to build and, as you’d expect, is tailored to its owner’s exact specs.

Take HK002, which is destined for Hong Kong. Theon does offer a full carbon body, but 002’s owner specified mostly steel panels. Theon can equip commissions with various different engines, from 3.6- to 4.0-litres with or without turbochargers – 002 is fitted with a nat-asp 3.8-litre motor with 371bhp and 300lb ft. It has the six-speed manual gearbox from a 993, the strut-brace from a 964 RS, KW Variant 3 dampers and with a full tank of fuel weighs just 1,248kg.

The interior is finished in semi-aniline green leather with yellow detailing and swathes of carbon fibre. The seats are by Recaro and the steering wheel by Nardi. Modern conveniences like the stereo, a wireless phone charger and flip-down screen for the reversing camera are all neatly hidden away.

What would your spec look like?
