Mitsubishi is auctioning off its entire heritage fleet

The collection includes a glorious Evo VI TM and a very familiar-looking L200

Published: 22 Mar 2021

You’re probably aware by now that Mitsubishi isn’t planning to bring any new cars to the UK, and the only ones it’ll bring to Europe at all will be born from a partnership with the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

Sadly, that decision means Mitsubishi UK is now selling off the entirety of its 14-car heritage fleet. And what a collection it is.

Let’s start with the Evos. There are three of them, the earliest being an utterly glorious Evolution VI Tommi Makinen from 2001. It’s actually the very car you’ll see by clicking these brilliant blue words, and the bonnet has been signed by Makinen himself. Then there’s a 2008 Evo IX MR FQ-360 HKS (with fewer than 5,000 miles on the clock) and a 2015 Evo X FQ-440 MR – a 440bhp special edition that celebrated the brand’s 40th anniversary.

Part of the collection is also the very first Mitsubishi ever to be registered in the UK – a 1974 Colt Lancer 1.4 – and a Colt Galant 2.0 from the same year. As you’d expect from Mitsubishi, there are a couple of rally cars too – namely a Galant GTi rally-replica built in the late 1980s and the British Rally Championship-winning Evo IX, formerly of Guy Wilkes.

Next up is a Starion Turbo, a 3000GT and a couple of 4x4s in the form of a Mitsubishi Jeep and Mk1 and Mk2 Shoguns. Oh, and let’s not forget the slightly less exciting Outlander PHEV Mk1 from 2015.

The auction will run throughout the month of April on AutoAuction.co.uk and all of the lots are being sold with no reserve. We’ve saved the best til last though, because the final car in the collection is none other than TG’s L200 Project Swarm. You already know you want it, don’t you. Plus, it’s only ever had one *very careful* owner…
